1.  This completed application and ALL other required application documents can be received by post, e-mail with attachments or on a CD.

2.   Request that official transcripts of credit be sent directly from each college or university, seminary and/or graduate school you have attended to the Office of Admissions. For Doctor of Ministry studies, you must have M.Div. or equivalent and three years of ministry service after conferring of the degree.

3.   Reference forms are included with this application. Three references are required; one should be from a seminary professor who knows your academic work and potential well; a second should be from a denominational/judicatory official who knows your present parish work and/or professional competence; the third reference source should be from a colleague or other professional who know you well and can comment on your leadership potential.

4.    Enclose a Professional Identity Paper of 1500-3000 words, indicating how you understand yourself as a Christian leader and minister. Identify what key biblical ideas, theological concepts and ethical issues you consider to be crucial for ministry in today's church and world. Describe what formative experiences have shaped your spiritual development, areas of significant spiritual growth, areas of searching and needed development, satisfying and frustrating experiences in ministry, and reflections on any crises in faith and living.

5.   Enclose a sample of your work, which illustrates your skill at theological analysis; for example, sermon, Bible study, Sunday School presentation, pastoral verbatim. You may include other kinds of media (such as audio or video recording) but it must be accompanied by a written commentary.

6.   Enclose a Statement of Purpose in which you state your reasons for wishing to enroll in the Doctor of Ministry Degree program, your tentative learning goals, the competencies or skills you would like to develop.

7.   Enclose a Statement of Research Interest stating potential topic(s) for your research, why you are interested in this area, how it relates to your specialized competencies, skills and learning goals, and how this research area would enhance your ministry of spiritual leadership.

8.   Enclose a bibliography of books and other resources that you have found stimulating in your ministry since seminary and a 3-5 page critical review of one book.

9.   Official Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) scores are required of all international applicants who have not completed a degree in the United States. The institutional code for reporting your scores to Garrett-Evangelical is 1245.

10. A $75 application fee must be received before a DMin application will be complete. If admitted to the program, a non- refundable confirmation of deposit of $200 applied to your account for the first term of study and a $55 Northwestern University NetID connection fee are required within one month of notification of admission. If a notification of deferral is not received by the date of confirmed enrollment, the deposit is forfeited. If the application expires (applications are maintained for one year from the date of intended enrollment) a request for updating the application requires a new application fee.
